About Us

Together at St Barnabas

We are a church family of all ages and all sorts of people united around our desire to “share the hope found in Jesus” with all. St Barnabas Church is a Church of England Church and part of the worldwide Anglican Communion which are founded on the great reformation principles of “Christ alone, Scripture alone, Faith alone”. As an Anglican church we look to scripture, tradition, and reason to explore faith and life in an ever changing world.

Our Roots

Find out more about our history from it's early beginnings in an old school to the "church on the roundabout" that we know today.

Our Vision

Our vision is to enable everyone to “share the good news of Jesus” with those they meet (Mark 16:15). Communication and community are key to this, as is relying on the Holy Spirit that Jesus left to work in the world.  That same Holy Spirit empowers the church to tell God’s story and join in with all that is already happening in our city and beyond. We are part of Gloucester City Deanery and have close relationships with many other churches in our city especially in the Tuffley area where we are part of the “Church in Tuffley”. We are also part of Gloucester Diocese where the vision is that all “may have LIFE in all its fullness” (John 10:10).

Our Core Beliefs

We subscribe to the historical creeds (statements of faith) which speak of our belief in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Belief in God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit is at the heart of our faith. Christians believe that Jesus is God's Son, both human and divine. Jesus reveals to us that God is our Father and created heaven and earth. God is available to us, and at work in the world here and now through the Holy Spirit.
